Privacy Policy for OMNIwx
Last updated: June 22, 2026
OMNIwx respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the OMNIwx mobile application, including app screens, widgets, Android Auto surfaces, map layers, weather alerts, and related OMNIwx services.
OMNIwx is operated by Andrew Motherway / OMNIwx. Questions can be sent to admin@omni-wx.com.
1. Information OMNIwx Processes
OMNIwx is designed to minimize data collection. The app does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address, payment information, contacts, photos, microphone access, or advertising identifier.
Location and Place Information
OMNIwx uses location or place information to provide weather-related features. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:
- A searched city, airport, marine area, or saved place.
- A default city selected by you.
- Your device's current location, if you grant location permission.
- Coordinates used for weather, radar, maps, marine weather, aviation weather, astronomy, alerts, widgets, and Android Auto weather.
OMNIwx may process approximate or precise coordinates depending on whether you choose a saved/searched location or allow current-location access.
Saved Places and Settings
Saved places, default city, unit preferences, map preferences, notification preferences, and similar app settings are stored locally on your device.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, OMNIwx uses your selected notification categories and weather location context to provide the weather alerts or weather-related notifications you choose. You can disable notifications in the app or through Android system settings.
Widgets and Android Auto
OMNIwx home-screen widgets and Android Auto surfaces may use your saved/default/current OMNIwx location to refresh weather, radar, aviation, climatology, or sky-condition summaries. These surfaces are designed to use the same app location context and local cache where possible.
2. Information OMNIwx Does Not Collect
OMNIwx does not intentionally collect:
- Names, email addresses, or account credentials.
- Payment or financial information.
- Contacts, phonebook, SMS, call logs, calendar data, photos, or microphone audio.
- Advertising identifiers for ad tracking.
- Health, fitness, biometric, or government identification information.
OMNIwx does not currently use advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs.
3. How OMNIwx Uses Information
OMNIwx uses location and app preference information to:
- Show current weather, forecasts, radar, satellite, alerts, and maps.
- Provide marine, aviation, space weather, almanac, astronomy, and extremes features.
- Refresh widgets and Android Auto weather surfaces.
- Save your selected settings and places on your device.
- Improve reliability by caching provider responses and normalized weather data.
OMNIwx does not sell personal data.
4. OMNIwx API and Infrastructure
Some weather and map requests may pass through OMNIwx API infrastructure, including Cloudflare Workers, to cache, aggregate, or normalize weather data from public and third-party providers.
OMNIwx does not create user accounts and does not intentionally store a history of your location on OMNIwx servers. However, normal service operation may temporarily process request metadata such as IP address, request time, requested endpoint, and coordinates needed to return weather data. Infrastructure providers may maintain temporary logs for security, reliability, abuse prevention, and service operation.
5. Third-Party Data Providers and Services
OMNIwx depends on weather, map, radar, satellite, marine, aviation, water, and space-weather data providers. Depending on the feature used, requests may be sent to providers such as:
- Open-Meteo and related weather/model APIs.
- NOAA, NWS, SWPC, NDBC, and other U.S. government weather services.
- USGS water data services.
- Radar, satellite, and map tile services, including providers used for base maps and weather layers.
- Aviation weather data services.
- Cloudflare, which provides OMNIwx API infrastructure.
- Google Play and Android platform services for app distribution, permissions, notifications, widgets, and Android Auto integration.
These providers may receive coordinates, request metadata, IP address, and other technical information necessary to return the requested data. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
6. Data Storage and Retention
Saved places, default city, preferences, cached weather, and similar app data are stored locally on your device. You can remove this local data by deleting saved places where available, clearing app data, or uninstalling OMNIwx.
OMNIwx does not provide user accounts, so there is no account deletion process. If account features are added in the future, this policy will be updated and account deletion options will be provided as required.
Temporary server, infrastructure, and provider logs may be retained by OMNIwx infrastructure providers or third-party data providers according to their operational, security, and legal requirements.
7. Security
OMNIwx uses HTTPS for network requests where supported by the data provider or service. No method of electronic transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but OMNIwx is designed to minimize the amount of personal information processed and to use modern encrypted transport for app requests.
8. Children
OMNIwx is not directed to children under 13 and is not intended for use as a child-directed service.
9. Weather and Safety Disclaimer
OMNIwx is an informational weather application. It is not a substitute for official warnings, emergency instructions, certified aviation briefings, marine navigation tools, or professional judgment.
Marine, aviation, radar, satellite, alerts, maps, boundaries, and forecast products may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, generalized, or limited by provider coverage. Always verify critical weather, marine, aviation, emergency, and safety decisions with official sources.
10. Changes to This Policy
OMNIwx may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date will be revised when material changes are made.
